Fresh off the release of his new album Luck and Strange, David Gilmour stopped by a local pub in Brighton and Hove, UK for an open mic on Monday night and gave his first live performance since 2020.
Taking place at The Neptune Inn, the Pink Floyd guitarist and singer joined his daughter Romany Gilmour, who also contributed vocals to Luck and Strange. Romany invited her father up for a song, and David asked if they should do “Wish You Were Here” — they then performed the Pink Floyd classic together on acoustic guitars, singing in harmony as the pub’s attendees sang along.

David immortalized the moment by posting a video of the performance on Twitter, writing, “Very much enjoyed crashing @GilmourRomany’s gig at the Neptune in Hove this evening after finishing tour rehearsals…” Watch the video below.
While David and Romany played a handful of private shows in the UK around the onset of the pandemic, the performance was Gilmour’s first public set since a 2020 tribute concert for Fleetwood Mac co-founder Peter Green at the London Palladium.
As his tweet suggests, David Gilmour is currently gearing up for some much bigger shows in support of Luck and Strange. His 2024 tour is comprised of residency dates in Rome, London, Los Angeles, and New York City; the dates kick off at the end of this month and run until mid-November. Luck and Strange served as Gilmour’s fifth solo album and his first batch of new music in nine years. In addition to vocals from Romany, the album also features contributions from Gilmour’s son Gabriel, his wife Polly Samson, and the late Pink Floyd keyboardist Richard Wright.
