Customer stunned after Uber Eats mix-up sends order to another country

An Australian-based Irish expat was left “absolutely gutted” after mistakenly ordering Uber Eats to an address over 9,600 miles away – in Dublin, Ireland.

Originally from Belfast, Oisin Lenehan has been living in Melbourne for six years. He was staying with friends Kyle and Sarah, while searching for a permanent home. One evening, after a few drinks, Lenehan decided to treat his hosts to a takeaway.

“We were enjoying a nice evening, and I thought I’d get us some food as a thank-you,” Lenehan told Jam Press via the New York Post, as he recalled the mix-up.

The order – $65 worth of BBQ chicken pizzas, garlic bread, and chips – seemed straightforward. However, Lenehan soon realized something was amiss when he checked the delivery details: the food was being sent to a Dublin address where he’d once stayed during a night out in Ireland.

“My heart just dropped,” he admitted. “We were hungry and we were going to have to go through the whole process again of deciding where to order and what we wanted.”

Uber Eats customer goes viral on TikTok

To make matters worse, Lenehan had to explain the situation to an Uber Eats representative over the phone, a moment his friends captured and later shared on TikTok.

The viral video, showing Lenehan’s increasingly flustered call while Kyle and Sarah laughed uncontrollably in the background, racked up over 595,000 views and 32,000 likes.

“I need to cancel the order,” Lenehan told the Uber Eats employee, “I mistakenly left my old home address in the system.” Fortunately, the mix-up ended on a positive note, as he secured a full refund.

Kyle, still chuckling about the incident, praised his friend’s composure. “He was so respectful on the phone. We were laughing our heads off.”

Viewers were equally entertained, cracking jokes in the comments. “Damn i’m back here closer to his original Pizza destination,” one said. Another replied, “Different part of the country… is a whole other continent.”

Reflecting on the situation, Lenehan quipped, “These incidents happen to me all the time. I didn’t realize there was an audience for it.”

This is just the latest Uber Eats moment to garner traction on TikTok. In 2024, a customer went viral after receiving a heartfelt note from their delivery driver, inspiring her and fellow TikTok users to come together and pay off his wedding in full.
