Comedians Bobby Lee and Joe Rogan go way back. Lee was a guest on the latest episode of the Joe Rogan Experience and reminisced about their first time hanging out.
That story involved Joe Rogan headlining the comedy club Bobby Lee was working at some time around 1995. After Joe Rogan’s set, they went to a gentleman’s club in San Diego where Bobby Lee failed to read the room and nearly got himself shot if it wasn’t for Joe Rogan paying attention.
What’s particularly enjoyable about this story is how their accounts of the evening are very mismatched but it’s also very evident Joe Rogan is the one with the better recollection of the events and Bobby Lee was young and out to have a great night.
At one point, Rogan questions Bobby asking “do you have any self-preservation instincts whatsoever?” and honestly, the best stories come from people who don’t because they find themselves in the most unhinged situations. Every guy knows someone like this… The dude that always has an epic night but everyone is constantly wondering how that person hasn’t lost a limb or wound up in jail yet because their instincts always lead them down the wrong path.
In the same episode, Bobby told Joe all about his horrible acting experiences in Hollywood. This clip is taking off on Joe’s YouTube and is racking up nearly 1K views per minute. Bobby and Joe are professional story tellers and this episode certainly delivered the goods:
Bobby Lee was cashing those Magnum P.I. checks for the past few years and has 5 projects in the works. It will be cool to see him in the media more in the months ahead.
