Wombo has returned with ‘Danger in Fives,’ the lead single and title track from their upcoming album Danger in Fives, out August 8th via Fire Talk Records.
The Louisville-based trio—Sydney Chadwick, Cameron Lowe, and Joel Taylor—presents a captivating first taste of their third full-length album with ‘Danger in Fives.’ Anchored by skittering production and a hypnotic bassline, the track’s surreal lyricism and looping momentum mark a confident reentry for the band. The accompanying video, directed by Lowe, places Chadwick in a repetitive dreamlike cycle, offering small variations with each loop, mirroring the song’s subtly shifting structure.
Chadwick cooly intones:
“See through mind said to me, ‘the danger comes in fives.’ Now we all sit in a circle and pass the danger down.”
The full Danger in Fives LP arrives August 8 and follows 2022’s Fairy Rust, showcasing Wombo’s sharpened songwriting and fearless artistic growth. In support of the album, the band will embark on an extensive headlining tour across North America, the UK, and Europe, kicking off in Louisville on August 8 and wrapping in Prague on November 21.
