Supernova Ska Festival 2024 marks the 10th anniversary of the event, and they’re throwing a birthday party designed to wear out your dancing shoes. Taking place September 13th-15th at Hampton, Virginia’s Fort Monroe, the fest is loaded with exclusive, one-of-a-kind shows — and we’re giving some of you ska fans a chance to see them all for free (enter here!).
Headliners The Selecter will play their first East Coast show in over five years (and only one this year!), which is sure to be an emotional experience following the recent passing of vocalist Arthur “Gaps” Hendrickson. Also topping the bill are (recent In Defense of Ska guests) Inspector and Roy Ellis with The Aggrolites, but really it just gets crazier from there: Skavoovie and the Epitones are reuniting for their first show in 25 years, Against Me!’s Laura Jane Grace will be joined by Catbite for an Operation Ivy tribute set, and The Pioneers are playing with The Steady 45s for their first-ever East Coast show — and then there are “ho-hum” sets by Big D and the Kids Table, The Pietasters, Mad Caddies, The Planet Smashers, The Kilograms, Five Iron Frenzy, The Slackers, and more.
Plus, In Defense of Ska podcast host Aaron Carnes will be there talking about In Defense of Ska the book, which will see an expanded second edition released in October.
