Quavo is back with another Takeoff tribute.
On Wednesday night, the ATL rapper came through with “Greatness,” a song dedicated to his late nephew and fellow member of Migos and Unc & Phew. Quavo announced the record just hours before its release, unveiling its official cover art as well as a link to its accompanying video.
“Countdown to Greatness,” he captioned the image, which showed him sitting in front his collection of platinum plaques. “#ForTake🚀.”
The visual includes home footage of Quavo playing ball with his celebrity friends, flaunting his impressive jewelry collection, and showing off his fleet of luxury cars. Though he’s clearly proud of his success and material wealth, he raps that he would give it all away “just to see my dawg just one more time.”
“Tryin’ to move forward, but I don’t got all the answers,” he raps. “But I know I can’t look backwards, that’s dangerous/I had to go read the bible and take a few pages.”
You can watch the “Greatness” video via YouTube above and stay tuned for the song to hit streaming.
The release arrives nearly four months after Takeoff was fatally shot outside a Houston bowling alley, where he had attended a private event. The 28-year-old was reportedly wounded in the head and his torso. Quavo was with Takeoff at the time of the shooting but was unharmed.
The suspected gunman, identified as Patrick Xavier Clark, was arrested about a month after the shooting occurred. The 33-year-old man was ultimately charged with murder, but was released on $1 million bond in early January.
Quavo also paid tribute to Takeoff during the 65th Annual Grammy Awards on Feb. 5. He performed his song “Without You” during the ceremony’s “In Memoriam” segment along with the gospel collective Maverick City Music.
