With his long-teased new album It’s Almost Dry on the horizon, Pusha-T sat down with Charlamagne tha God for a nearly hour-long interview that should give fans plenty to dissect in the meantime.
The roughly 55-minute interview, released Monday, opens with some thoughts on the pandemic and the birth of Pusha’s son before the two started getting into the greatness-minded ambition behind the new album.
“I feel like, you know, I had the best of both worlds in regards to production and in regards to two people that actually understand who I am and they like two different things from me that I feel are both really great,” Pusha said around the 1:36 mark when praising the impact of Pharrell Williams and the artist formerly known as Kanye West’s involvement in his latest chapter.
The two also discussed the importance of longevity, the single “Diet Coke,” begging for a record featuring a Donny Hathaway sample, and more. See the full interview up top.
The first phase of the It’s Almost Dry Tour, meanwhile, is set to kick off next month in Seattle. And while an official release date for Push’s DAYTONA follow-up hasn’t yet been announced, fans were recently treated with the release of “Neck & Wrist” featuring Jay-Z.
The lead-up to It’s Almost Dry has also featured Pusha-T appearances on Hot Ones and 360 With Speedy Morman, the respective episodes of which can both be revisited below. In March, he also spoke with Jessica McKinney for Complex, touching on—among other things—his and Ye’s discussion on how to top DAYTONA.
