The original Broadway cast of Hamilton was not just in the room where the 78th Tony Awards happened. The show’s stars took the stage together at Radio City Music Hall in New York City to celebrate the iconic musical’s 10th anniversary in the best way possible. They performed a rousing medley of signature Hamilton songs. Needless to say this Hamilton reunion brought joy to fans everywhere.

This year’s Tony Award host, Cynthia Erivo, got to do something all musical theater nerds could only dream of. She introduced the original cast of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s smash hit to Radio City’s hallowed halls. But while they might not have worn colonial American attire to this Hamilton reunion, they were all still in (their original First Act) character.

In addition to Miranda’s titular Founding Father, the fantastic, high-energy Hamilton performance also featured signature moments from the original cast, including Leslie Odom Jr. (Aaron Burr), Phillipa Soo (Eliza Hamilton), Rene Elise Goldsberry (Angelica Schuyler), Christopher Jackson (George Washington), Daveed Diggs (Marquis de Lafayette), Jasmine Cephas Jones (Peggy Schuyler), and Okieriete Onaodowan (Hercules Mulligan). The Mad King himself, Jonathan Groff, was the only original Hamilton cast member to wear a de facto costume to the reunion performance. He came out in a snazzy red jacket.

Notably, Anthony Ramos (John Laurens/Philip Hamilton) did not get a solo in this Hamilton reunion, but he was part of the performance. You can see him come out during “History Has Its Eye On You.” Why wouldn’t one of the show’s biggest stars not get his own moment like everyone else? This was not just a bunch of people singing Hamilton songs during karaoke. This was a choreographed performance on network TV with original singing cues. Clearly a lot of rehearsal went into it and Ramos is a movie star with a busy schedule. (Leslie Odom Jr. is returning to the Broadway production this fall for a limited-run, which might explain why he got a couple chances to shine.)

If, though, the cast comes together for another reunion performance in celebration of Hamilton‘s 20th anniversary, we hope everyone can find time to let John Laurens sing. Both America and Hamilton wouldn’t be the same without him.
