While performing their set at San Francisco’s Outside Lands Festival this past weekend, Lil Uzi Vert, who recently switched to using they/them pronouns, was confronted by a fan who eluded security to exchange pleasantries with the Philadelphia rapper onstage.
In footage that’s circulated on social media, Uzi paused their performance of their 2017 collaboration with Playboi Carti, “Wokeuplikethis,” to dap up the fan and diffuse the situation.
Whereas most crashers are violently removed from the stage, this particular fan got a selfie out of the interaction, as Uzi snapped a picture with the young man before telling the crowd, “I was just trying to be nice!” as security walked him offstage.
Uzi’s appearance at Outside Lands arrives on the heels of the release of the Red & White EP, which served as the rapper’s first full-length offering since November 2020, when they joined forces with Future for the collaborative album Pluto x Baby Pluto. The project also marked the first solo project from Uzi since they dropped Eternal Atake and Lil Uzi Vert vs. the World 2 back-to-back in March 2020.
Meanwhile, earlier this month, Kodak Black hopped on Instagram to tease a potential joint project with Uzi. “Lil Uzi [Vert], we be on some shit man,” he said. “We might drop an EP soon.”
