Warner Music Poland joins forces with renowned independent hip-hop label Step Records.
Warner Music Poland announces a new partnership with Grupa STEP, owner of the independent hip-hop label Step Records. A renowned player in the independent hip-hop scene, Step Records has spent the last 15 years establishing itself as a leader in Polish hip-hop music. The biggest Polish music channel on YouTube, Step Records has featured almost all the top talent from the Polish music scene since its debut in 2008.
The deal with Grupa STEP is crucial for Warner Music Poland, following the announcement in May of their collaboration with Big Idea, an established local hip-hop festival and concert promoter. The combined forces of Big Idea, Step Records, and Warner Music Poland will enable comprehensive support for hip-hop artists throughout Poland and beyond.
“Grupa STEP is a team of committed and passionate people. For more than 15 years, they’ve been a key player on the Polish hip-hop scene,” says Adrian Ciepichal, Managing Director at Warner Music Poland. “I’m sure that together we can create the perfect environment to support young and gifted rappers in Poland. This collaboration sends a clear message that we’re ready to undertake many new exciting projects in this space.”
“We’ve always seen the need for constant development at Grupa STEP,” adds Pawel Krok, co-founder of Grupa STEP. “Step Records’ history goes back to 1989 when our parents founded the first company with the word ‘Step’ in its name.”
“Teaming up with Warner Music is the next nominative determinism step in our development. As we share WM Poland’s business approach, we see this collaboration as an opportunity to harness synergies and our contribution to the growth of hip-hop in Poland and Europe,” he concludes.
The label’s catalog features more than 150 albums, with many more titles released by its distribution arm, StepHurt Dystrybucja. Many of these albums have been featured in the Polish music charts.
