Today, London-based singer/songwriter Violet Love Child introduces herself with ‘Evil Eye,’ her evocative debut single on 7476.
Produced by Brandon “Hot Dennis” Hill at The state51 Factory, ‘Evil Eye’ dives deep into the anguish of betrayal and heartbreak. Drawing inspiration from Leonard Cohen, Mazzy Star, and Fleetwood Mac, the song’s haunting melody and lyrics paint a vivid portrait of love gone wrong. Its alternative-pop and Americana production style melds beautifully with Violet’s vocal intensity, echoing artists like Ethel Cain and Phoebe Bridgers.
Reflecting on her debut, Violet Love Child says:
“To me, ‘Evil Eye’ is about the regret of opening up to someone, sharing something special, or showing your true self, only to feel vulnerable when it goes wrong. It’s written from a place of feeling wronged and frustrated, struggling with how things have changed and how someone could have the power to hurt you that much. At its core, the song asks, “How could you do this to me?””
With ‘Evil Eye,’ Violet Love Child makes a striking entrance, offering an emotionally charged debut that hints at a bright future in the music scene.
