Just over a year on from his breakout, self-titled debut EP, rising UK talent Nippa returns with Not A Statistic, a new four-track batch of “hood-R&B” gems brimming with energy and relaxed charm.
It’s not just the tunes themselves that have caught the ears of legions of fans on both sides of the Atlantic—it’s also the polish and presentation that go hand-in-hand with his songwriting. Clearly in-tune with that, this new project carries more of that sky-high production value and booming, voluminous bass. No surprises, then, in the list of credited producers on the EP: Show N Prove produce three of the tracks, leaving the fourth and final cut to Niels and Max Reece.
“This project here is a collection of songs I feel suits the place that I’m at in my life this year,” says Nippa. “It’s a gift to the fans for still rocking with me and supporting the movement regardless. The title, in itself, shows that we have gone against the norm in everything, whether it’s singing, avoiding the streets, being different, being yourself.”
In the year and a bit since he turned heads with the one-two punch of “Situation” and his debut EP, it’s been a massive year for Nippa. Dropping another blockbuster release in the final moments of 2022 feels like a great way to end the year on a high, and if it’s effective as its predecessor, could be the perfect springboard for 2023.
