Tool frontman and Jiu Jitsu black belt Maynard James Keenan has announced a new film about the martial art entitled The Great In Between: An Introduction to Jiu Jitsu.
The film begins streaming December 13th via Puscifer TV and is billed as a “90-minute class” that “offers a hands-on seminar tailored for beginners and the Jiu Jitsu-curious” according to Keenan’s press release.

Shot at the Verde Valley Brazilian Jiu Jitsu academy in Cottonwood, Arizona, the film sees Keenan and his fellow black belts guiding viewers through “the essential development of stabilizing muscles and myelin connections, building a foundation for success in this confidence-building, puzzle-solving martial art.”
“You can do this,” stated Keenan, who earned his black belt in Jiu Jitsu earlier this year. “We’ve got your back. Not literally. But we can also teach you how to get us off your back. See what I did there?”
The Great In Between: An Introduction to Jiu Jitsu was directed by Chris Staab and features music from Puscifer. Pre-orders of the film (as a 72-hour rental) and various commemorative merch bundles are available now via Puscifer TV. A one-day Cyber Monday special for bundle discounts is running Monday (December 2nd) using the code VVBJJ24 (limit one per customer).
Meanwhile, Keenan also has plans on the music front, with the Sessanta tour (featuring A Perfect Circle, Primus, and Puscifer) heading back out for its “V.20” run in April. You can pick up tickets here.
