Ticketmaster has delayed the presale window for Taylor Swift’s Los Angeles concerts at SoFi Stadium due to a “historically unprecedented demand” for tickets.
The ticket vendor announced Tuesday that the verified fan presale period for shows in L.A., Las Vegas, Santa Clara and Seattle has been pushed from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Pacific time. The Capital One on-sale has also been postponed to Wednesday at 2 p.m. local time.
The “Midnights” artist is scheduled to play Inglewood’s SoFi Stadium on Aug. 3, 4, 5, 8 and 9 as part of her highly anticipated Eras tour. Frequent Swift collaborator Haim will join the “Anti-Hero” singer for all five So-Fi shows, which will feature supporting acts Gracie Abrams (Aug. 3 and 8), Owenn (Aug. 4) and Gayle (Aug. 5 and 9).
The Grammy winner is slated to perform at Santa Clara’s Levi’s Stadium with Haim and Abrams on July 28 and 29; Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium with beabadoobee and Gayle on March 24 and 25; and Seattle’s Lumen Field with Haim and Abrams on July 22 and 23.
According to Ticketmaster, hundreds of thousands of tickets have already been sold to the “millions” who logged on for the verified fan presale. The company encouraged fans currently waiting in the online queue for tickets to “please hang tight” as it worked to push them through the line “as quickly as possible.”
The new queues for L.A., Santa Clara, Vegas and Seattle will open at 2:30 p.m. Pacific.
Ticketmaster thanked fans Tuesday for their “patience,” which was wearing thin — to put it lightly — by the time the vendor addressed their concerns. The company’s name was trending on social media all day as Swifties across Twitter complained about getting shut out of the presale, experiencing technical difficulties and/or waiting in the virtual queue for hours — sometimes to no avail.
“Count yo days @Ticketmaster,” tweeted @EdgarBotello41 after the website appeared to crash.
“It’s called the ‘Eras’ tour because if you try to log in to Ticketmaster all you get are era messages,” tweeted @genethelawyer.
“what is joe biden’s plan to unpause the ticketmaster queue for taylor swift’s eras tour,” tweeted another user.
President Biden has yet to weigh in on the national crisis, but another politician, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-New York), was fed up:
“Daily reminder that Ticketmaster is a monopoly, it’s merger with LiveNation should never have been approved, and they need to be reigned in,” she tweeted. “Break them up.”
Swift has described her forthcoming tour as “a journey through the musical eras of my career (past & present!)” — including her latest studio album, “Midnights,” which came out last month.
