The single explores immigrant anxiety and personal resilience. Their upcoming EP, someday, forever, is out August 15, 2025.

The Youth Play has returned with a powerful new single, ‘Maybe This Was All For Us,’ the latest preview of their upcoming EP someday, forever. The track is a vivid reflection on the immigration experience, examining the mental and emotional toll of applying for the right to remain in a country. Anchored by atmospheric guitar work and soaring melodies, the song captures both personal and collective anxieties, giving voice to those affected by displacement and deportation.

Diego breaks down the meaning of ‘Maybe This Was All For Us’:

“The song is about my experience of immigration, and the looming anxiety that applying for the right to remain in a country can put on your whole life. The lyrics are biographical about my journey, but also aims to represent all of those who find themselves in difficult times, especially with the ongoing displacement and deportation scenario around the world. It’s a desperate call about trying to get your head out of situations that are sucking up your enjoyment of life- how hard it can be to break cycles, and to keep yourself involved in a world full of global crisis without compromising your own stability or mental health.”

To celebrate the EP’s release, The Youth Play will host a release party at London’s Mascara Bar on August 29. They’re also set to perform at Forest Fest in Ireland (July 26) and Boomtown in Hampshire (August 9), offering fans a chance to see the rising band live.
