The Wiggles Tap Dolly Parton, Orville Peck for Country Album

Get ready to wiggle, y’all. The Australian children’s band The Wiggles have announced their latest album, Wiggle Up, Giddy Up!, which will see them embrace a country sound with help from artists like Dolly Parton, Orville Peck, Dasha, Lainey Wilson, and more.

Due on Friday, March 7th, Wiggle Up, Giddy Up! spans 32 tracks, including two songs featuring Parton, titled “Friends!” and “We Will Always Be Friends,” and the previously-released single “Big Red Ute.”

Filling out the guest list on the album are country artists like Jackson Dean, MacKenzie Porter, and pedal steel guitarist Lucky Oceans, as well as a number of Australian and New Zealander acts, like Morgan Evans, The Wolfe Brothers, the late Slim Dusty, and more.

Along with the album’s announcement, the group issued the music video for its latest single and title track, “Wiggle Up, Giddy Up!” featuring Dasha (whose top three cities for Spotify streams, fun fact, are all in Australia). The video sees The Wiggles don their finest Western wear and have a hoedown, with help from characters Dorothy the Dinosaur, Wags the Dog, and others, as well as Dasha herself. Watch it below.

Speaking about the album, the Blue Wiggle, Anthony Field, said “This is one of the most exciting projects we’ve ever been a part of, in fact, I’ve never spent so much time on an album before. Country music is all about storytelling and connection. Combining that with The Wiggles’ fun and imagination and collaborations with these legendary country music artists felt like the perfect match.”

Previously, The Wiggles have explored other genres, including an EDM album released last year, and another country effort, Cold Spaghetti Western, in 2004.

Meanwhile, if you’d like to giddy up down to Wiggle town yourself, you’ll have a chance this summer when the band’s world tour touches down in Vancouver for an North American leg, stopping in Seattle, Los Angeles, Austin, Nashville, Chicago, Brooklyn, and more cities.
