The WAEVE, the collaborative project of Graham Coxon and Rose Elinor Dougall, has just unveiled their latest single, ‘Broken Boys,’ from their forthcoming album City Lights, which drops on September 20th via Transgressive Records.
‘Broken Boys’ is the third single from the album and delivers a propulsive, Cabaret Voltaire-like sound that showcases the duo’s evolved and bolder musical approach. The track stands out with Coxon’s distinctive guitar work and Dougall’s compelling vocal delivery, further establishing the dynamic range of their upcoming release. The new single follows the art-rock energy of the title track City Lights and the expansive anthem ‘You Saw,’ setting a high bar for the full album.
Reflecting on the creation of City Lights, Dougall notes the progression in their music-making process:
“The band had an identity this time around so we had a little bit more of a framework to know how we might operate. But obviously, the circumstances were quite different…”
With ‘Broken Boys,’ The WAEVE offers a taste of what’s to come on City Lights, a record that promises to be a natural progression from their debut and a bold statement of their artistic evolution.
