English-New Zealand rock band The Veils, led by Finn Andrews, have just dropped their latest single, ‘The Ladder,’ ahead of the release of their seventh studio album, Asphodels, due out in early 2025.

Initially inspired by the intricate, mystical works of artist Hieronymus Bosch, the song blends themes of psychological exploration with Andrews’ signature reflection on love and death. The track’s dynamic string arrangements rise and fall with the band, creating a seamless, unified sound that harkens back to the days of live, analog recordings.

Reflecting on the song, Finn Andrews explains:

“After almost two decades of writing songs exclusively about love and death, it’s nice to finally write something about home DIY equipment. This is unfortunately only partially true and it is ultimately, of course, a song about love and death.”

Out now, ‘The Ladder’ leads the way for Asphodels.
