Tickets are on sale now for The Grateful Dead Movie, screening at 60 IMAX locations across North America to celebrate the band’s 60th anniversary.
On August 14, the Grateful Dead celebrate their 60th anniversary with a return to the big screen. Grateful Dead fans worldwide are invited to come together for the 2025 edition of “Meet-Up at the Movies” to celebrate the legendary band’s enduring legacy. This year, the annual theatrical event brings the Dead’s eponymous concert film, The Grateful Dead Movie, to cinemas and IMAX in select territories worldwide for the first time.
IMAX has remastered the film for an immersive experience that aims to make this a must-see event for Deadheads worldwide. Tickets are on sale now, including the highly anticipated August 13 early access screenings at 60 IMAX locations across North America.
This year, Rhino Entertainment and Trafalgar Releasing present this fan-favorite cult classic that follows the band on what at the time was believed to be their final performances. The five-night run at San Francisco’s Winterland Ballroom in October 1974, including the final night billed as “The Last One,” features stellar performances and interviews with the band. The film offers a rare focus on the band’s fans and their deep commitment to the Deadhead lifestyle.
Fans are encouraged to stay ‘til the end for the exclusive theatrical premier of “China Cat Sunflower > I Know You Rider,” a bonus live performance from the October ‘74 Winterland shows not included in the official film release.
The Grateful Dead Movie is directed by Jerry Garcia and Leon Gast, and produced by Edward Washington, Bill Graham, and Ron Rakow.
To further celebrate the Grateful Dead’s 60th anniversary, Dead & Company is holding three hometown concerts on August 1, 2, and 3 at San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park. Notably, the event marks the band’s first shows since their residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas, which concluded last month. Tickets for these shows are available now.
