The Playa d’en Bossa beach club had just wrapped up its final season, titled “The Last Chance to Dance.”
It’s the end of an era for Bora Bora, an iconic Ibiza club which has been demolished after over 40 years of revelry on the White Isle.
Bora Bora opened in 1982 and quickly became one of Ibiza’s hottest clubbing destinations. An immeasurable number of influential DJs graced the club’s stage through the years, such as Fatboy Slim, Dennis Cruz, Deborah De Luca, Todd Terry, Ida Engberg and The Martinez Brothers.
Images of the venue’s demolition, which appears to have left nothing but its entrance and bar area, were shared by the Rave Footage Twitter account.
The news arrives in the wake of a campaign launched by a local political group, who vehemently pushed a ban on beach clubs and “hotel discos” on the Spanish island, per NME. It’s unclear whether or not the campaign had an impact on the decision to shutter Bora Bora, the owners of which have not yet revealed a reason behind the closure.
The Playa d’en Bossa beach club had just wrapped up its final season, titled “The Last Chance to Dance,” with a closing party on October 15th.
“Because as goodbye, we want a big party,” Bora Bora Ibiza’s organizers said in the summer of 2022. “It’s the end of many stages and we want to celebrate it in style, just like in the old days, without filters. That’s right, this time it’s true. This is the last chance to come and dance with us.”
