Taylor Swift’s “Eras Tour” may be the highest grossing concert tour of all time, but that doesn’t mean she’s the only one making money playing Taylor Swift songs. In a new interview, Swift impersonator Olivia Mojic has revealed that her group, the Blank Space Tribute Band, has been earning thousands of dollars for their cover shows, with their top-paying booking grossing $18,000.
Mojic’s comments were made on TMZ’s Swift-Tea Podcast, where she explained that things have been going so well recently that she doesn’t “have to go to my normal people job anymore.”
Videos of the Blank Space Tribute Band show that the group recreates some of the magic of the “Eras Tour,” with Mojic donning outfits inspired by Swift’s iconic looks and delivering hits from throughout the pop star’s career. Though the $18,000 gross they’ve made is “much different” from the take-home pay because of the 11 people on the payroll, she hopes that the band will be touring internationally soon.
Yet, Mojic is also “afraid” of how Swift might respond to the band. “I don’t want to get in trouble,” she said. “I want to always do the right thing, and I always want to never take from anyone. I’m not a taker.”
Rather, Mojic said, “I’m doing this to give. It’s a mutual benefit for me, for our band, and for the audiences. There’s so much [positivity]. We do photos after every show with all the little kids. It’s just a fun thing, and I would never do anything that would take away from someone else. That’s not why I’m doing this.”
Up next, the Blank Space band will be performing at festivals, fairs, casinos, and other venues across the country through the end of next summer. Watch a trailer for their live performances below.
As for the real Taylor Swift, she’ll wrap up the “Eras Tour” with concerts in Miami, New Orleans, Indianapolis, Toronto, and Vancouver. Swifities can secure last minute tickets here.
