System of a Down's "Toxicity" Video Hits 1 Billion Views

System of a Down’s “Toxicity” music video has hit 1 billion views on YouTube, marking the band’s second video to reach the milestone.

“Toxicity” follows “Chop Suey!,” which is now closing in on the 1.5 billion mark on YouTube. Both songs are from System of a Down’s acclaimed sophomore album, 2001’s Toxicity, which has been certified six-times platinum in the United States.

The new milestone comes ahead of System of a Down’s highly anticipated summer run of North American stadium shows, including two dates each in East Rutherford, New Jersey (with Korn); Chicago (with Avenged Sevenfold); and Toronto (with Deftones). Tickets are available here.

It’s been more than 19 years since System of a Down last released a studio album (2005’s Hypnotize). In a recent interview with Eddie Trunk, bassist Shavo Odadjian said that if the band does eventually make a new album, it “needs to be amazing,” adding, “It can’t just be us riffing, ’cause we’ve got a lot to live up to, bro.”

Other rock videos to hit 1 billion views on YouTube in recent months include Evanescence’s “My Immortal,” Disturbed’s “The Sound of Silence,” and AC/DC’s “Back in Black.”
