Esteemed Montreal avant-garde rock band SUUNS have released ‘Doreen,’ the second single from their upcoming sixth studio album, The Breaks, set for release on September 6th via Joyful Noise Recordings and Secret City Records.
Accompanied by a self-directed music video featuring down-sampled driving footage, ‘Doreen’ marks a new direction for the band with its vulnerable love ballad that transforms into an intense synth-laden experience. ‘Doreen’ is described by vocalist/guitarist Ben Shemie as a serenade to the unattainable mysteries that drive creativity.
He elaborates:
“The Doreen in question doesn’t per se symbolize a specific person, but the mysteries that inspire you to move forward, yet are never fully attained. It’s a futile quest, as thoughts, feelings, sounds, and images will eternally slip through your fingers, unbound from action or creation.”
Their upcoming album, The Breaks, showcases SUUNS at their most experimental, blending pop instincts with a more extreme sonic palette. The album, forged through extensive touring and collaboration, features a mix of loops, synths, samples, and MIDI instruments captures SUUNS’ panoramic, curious, and exuberant nature.
‘Doreen’ is out now. The Breaks, is set for release on September 6th via Joyful Noise Recordings and Secret City Records.
