Stevie Wonder Calls for Unity on New Song "Can We Fix Our Nation's Broken Heart"

Stevie Wonder has called for a path to move forward through collective healing with his new song, “Can We Fix Our Nation’s Broken Heart.” Stream it below.

Over acoustic guitar and steady percussion, Wonder makes a case for mutual understanding and empathy. Insisting that there’s “light in everyone,” he requests fellow Americans come together for the sake of future generations.

“There’s a growing ocean of lies that we’ve been told/ To tear us down,” Wonder sings. “But what I’ve found/ Is with our truth, compassion, and love/ We can fix our nation’s heart.”

“Can We Fix Our Nation’s Broken Heart” comes one week after Wonder urged the crowd at the 2024 Democratic National Convention to choose “joy over anger” while introducing his performance of “Higher Ground.”

The hopeful track marks Wonder’s first solo release since 2020, when he unveiled “Can’t Put It in the Hands of Fate” and “Where Is Our Love Song” to christen the launch of his own record label, So What’s the Fuss Music. Last year, he appeared on The Rolling Stones’ “Sweet Sounds of Heaven” alongside Lady Gaga.
