Los Angeles alt-rock group Starling has shared ‘No Frown,’ the final single from their forthcoming EP Forgive Me, due out June 27, 2025, via Sunday Drive Records.
Performed as a duet, ‘No Frown’ is a tender acoustic ballad that captures the emotional clarity of small-town love. With soft strings, acoustic guitar, and interwoven vocals from Kasha Souter Willett and guitarist Gitai Vinshtok, the track delivers a nostalgic and heartfelt portrayal of connection, longing, and place. As the most stripped-back song on the EP, it stands out for its subtlety and warmth, evoking an air of stillness that feels complete and vulnerable.
Starling says:
“‘No Frown’ is the most acoustic song on the record. It is about growing up in a city and falling in love with someone from a small town, and falling in love with the small town itself. It is a sweet song, it feels complete; All of Starling’s usual yearning satisfied. The lyrics were written by Kasha and performed both by her and lead guitarist Gitai. Erik orchestrated the strings.”
‘No Frown’ offers a soft-spoken yet resonant closing note ahead of Forgive Me—a fitting preview of the introspection and beauty Starling has woven into their next chapter.
This summer, Starling will hit the road in support of Phoenix shoegaze band Glixen, playing a string of dates across California, the Midwest, and Texas, including stops in Santa Ana, Davenport, Dallas, and Lubbock. Full dates and details are on the band’s Instagram, @starlingband.
