Snoop Dogg on Turning Down $2 Million to DJ a Michael Jordan Event

During an appearance on the latest episode of Logan Paul’s Impaulsive podcast, Snoop Dogg discussed the time he turned down $2 million to DJ an event hosted by Michael Jordan.

Snoop, who declined the opportunity due to prior business obligations, admitted he doesn’t regret his decision because he wants to meet Jordan in a more intimate setting.

“One of the craziest deals I turned down was $2 million to DJ for a Michael Jordan event, and I turned it down. And I’ve never met Michael Jordan, and I wanna meet him. ’Cause I was doing some other shit, I had shit to do and I had way more customers before I get to you,” the Doggfather explained with a laugh. “Nah, but I never met Michael Jordan, and I wanna meet him, and I wanna meet him on a different—I don’t wanna meet him on no DJing. I wanna meet him as a fan, as a boss.”

Snoop then fantasized about the dream moment. “It’s like, ‘Mike, I’ve loved you since North Carolina, I’m a big fan of yours, I love what you do, you one of the greatest to ever do it. Give me a couple of secrets on how you did this. Can I get a picture with you? You wanna smoke a blunt? Hey man, it’s been real.’”

Elsewhere in the interview, Snoop shared his thoughts on all things West Coast hip-hop, including Kendrick Lamar’s reign, his own recent acquisition of Death Row Records, and his final conversation with 2Pac.

When asked how it feels to see Kendrick usurp him as the King of the West Coast, Snoop maintained that he didn’t give Lamar the crown; the Compton rapper snatched it. “I gave the crown to Kendrick Lamar,” Snoop said at the 20:40 mark. He quickly clarified, “Actually, I didn’t give it to him; he took it. But I had to take it off my head and give it to him. And he’s been running wild with it.”

Snoop also revealed he hasn’t spoke with Suge Knight since acquiring the legendary Death Row label earlier this year. “I spoke to him about a year and a half ago,” he explained at the 25-minute mark. “We had a great conversation, but it was nothing about me buying Death Row. … We were just getting caught up on life, and how much love we have for each other.”

“I think he would be proud,” Snoop said of Suge. “I think he would be happy, because he knows I’m a great business man; and I was also a part of the creation of Death Row.”

The group’s conversation about Death Row naturally pivoted to Snoop’s relationship with 2Pac, as the Doggystyle creator shared a story about the day he visited Pac in the hospital after he’d been shot. “He got tubes in him…when I walked in, it just felt like he wasn’t even there,” Snoop said at the 36-minute mark.

Dogg went on to explain that he fainted in Shakur’s room at the hospital, at which point the rapper’s mother pulled Snoop aside and urged him to be strong for her son. “She was like, ‘My baby ain’t never seen you weak,’” he said. “‘I don’t want you to be weak in front of him. You go in the bathroom, you fix yourself up, and you go back in there and talk to him. And you tell him how you feel.’”

Snoop then had some time alone with 2Pac, which he says he knew at the time would be their last moment together.
