Why does SiriusXM keep crashing? We’ve covered the most common satellite radio issues and how to troubleshoot them.
There’s no doubt that satellite radio helped revolutionize the way we experience live broadcasts. Still, like any music streaming service or traditional broadcast radio, things can sometimes go wrong. Below we’ll cover the most common issues you’ll encounter with SiriusXM and how to fix them on any device.
SiriusXM Keeps Crashing: Android
Restarting your device can resolve many issues, so always give that a try first. You should also check your internet connection; make sure you have an active WiFi connection or that SiriusXM has permission to run on mobile data if no WiFi is available.
If the service is experiencing any outages, that will also interfere with your experience. Fortunately, other SiriusXM users will be talking about it, so if there’s a service-wide outage, you’ll typically be able to tell immediately with a quick search.
When you’ve restarted the app, don’t notice any improvement, and already know it’s not an outage, the next step should be clearing the app’s cache. To clear SiriusXM’s cache on Android:
- Tap and hold the SiriusXM icon.
- Select App Settings > Clear Cache.
- Restart the app.
Signing back in after clearing the app’s cache should solve any issues not fixed with a restart. If you’ve tried everything else here and SiriusXM keeps crashing, delete the app and give it a fresh install. To uninstall SiriusXM on Android:
- Tap and hold the SiriusXM icon.
- Select Uninstall and confirm you want to delete it.
- Open the Google Play Store and search SiriusXM.
- Tap Install.
Open the app, sign back in, and ensure everything works correctly. If SiriusXM keeps crashing after a fresh install, your device may have a compatibility issue. You’ll have to wait for SiriusXM to roll out an update, but app developers typically fix compatibility and crashing problems as quickly as possible. However, sometimes devices are old enough that an app stops working correctly.

SiriusXM Keeps Crashing: Roku
If SiriusXM keeps crashing on a Roku device, power cycling the TV or Roku itself will resolve most problems. To power cycle your Roku:
- Unplug the Roku or TV and leave it without power for 5 minutes.
- Plug the power cord back in and turn on the TV.
- Relaunch SiriusXM.
If a power cycle doesn’t address the issue and you’ve already confirmed there are no outages or other connection issues, it’s time to reset the software.
- Press Home on your Roku remote and select Settings > System > Advanced System Settings.
- Select Factory Reset and confirm you want to continue.
- Restart Roku and launch SiriusXM.
