Neil Young and his band The Chrome Hearts will play Glastonbury 2025 after all, the singer says. He took a public stance against Glastonbury earlier this week, calling it a “corporate turn-off.” Now he’s walked the statement back.
“Due to an error in the information received, I had decided not to play the Glastonbury festival, which I have always loved,” Neil Young says on his official website. “Happily, the festival is now back on our itinerary and we look forward to playing! Hope to see you there,” the statement concludes.
Glastonbury has also confirmed Neil Young will be a headliner this year. “He does things his own way and that’s why we love him. We can’t wait to welcome him back here to headline the Pyramid in June.”
Young’s initial statement made it seem as though he took umbrage with the BBC partnering with Glastonbury. “We were told that the BBC was now a partner in Glastonbury and wanted us to do a lot of things in a way we were not interested in. It seems Glastonbury is now under corporate control and is not the way I remember it being. Thanks for coming to see us last time. We will not be playing Glastonbury on this tour because it is a corporate turn-ff, and not for me like it used to be.”
The Glastonbury festival has yet to announce its full lineup for 2025. The festival is taking place at Worthy Farm on June 25-29, presumably with Neil Young on board—again. Rod Stewart was the first act confirmed for Glastonbury 2025, returning to the festival since 2002 when he headlined the festival with Coldplay and Stereophonics.
Rod Stewart celebrated the announcement on his personal social media back in November 2024. Neil Young and Rod Stewart are currently the only two confirmed acts, though rumors suggest Olivia Rodrigo and The 1975 could also headline the festival.
