Back in June, Nickelback lead singer Chad Kroeger and Slipknot/Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor engaged in a testy battle of words over their assessment of the other’s life’s work.
During a video interview with Metal Covenant, Kroeger praised Nickelback by comically saying, “I can’t think of another band that’s as diverse as we are” before calling Taylor’s Stone Sour “Nickelback Lite.” Kroeger, totally unprompted, then ripped Slipknot’s predilection to wear masks on stage and rage, raising the question, “How good can your music be if you’ve got to beat each other up on stage, throw up in your own masks every night?”
Taylor showed some restraint in his response before adding “You’ve been voted ‘Ugliest Dude In Rock’ twice without [a mask]. Stick that up your ass.”
Welp, in an interview with Philadelphia radio station 93.3 WMMR on Wednesday, Taylor said he got a swift apology from Kroeger’s Nickelback bandmates for their frontman’s scathing words.
“That just tells you the level of ego you’re dealing with,” Taylor said. “And I’ve said this since day one — it’s not the band. As soon as that story hit, the band called and apologized. They were like, ‘It’s not us, we promise. It’s this guy. We don’t…’ And I had hung out with the band before and they’re super-cool dudes.”
“I don’t want people holding it against the band, because it’s not them. It’s Captain Ego from Planet Douche.”
Planet Douche?!

You’re move, Kroeger.
