Revocation have announced a new album titled New Gods, New Masters, set to arrive on September 26th. Ahead of its release, the Boston technical death metallers have unleashed the single “Cronenberged” featuring Job for a Cowboy singer Jonny Davy.
In support of the album, Revocation have also announced a fall North American tour that kicks off October 16th in Leesburg, Virginia, and runs through a November 15th show in Raleigh, North Carolina. The outing, which features opening acts Judiciary, Inferi, and Vomit Forth, will hit such cities as Brooklyn, Boston, Chicago, Seattle, and Los Angeles along the way.
A Live Nation pre-sale for select dates is under way using the code TREBLE, while a general on sale starts Friday at 10 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster. Tickets for other dates are available via venue links on the band’s website.

Regarding the album title, Revocation frontman Dave Davidson explained that it’s about humans’ need to worship various gods. “It seems as if that desire is encoded in our DNA,” said Davidson. “As science and our understanding of nature and the universe as a whole increases, the religions of the old gods start to become obsolete.”
He continued, “However, I believe we’ve replaced our old gods with new ones, worshipping technology and creating a cult-like idolatry of innovators. I’ve been very fascinated with the development of Artificial Intelligence, and I’m deeply concerned where this could lead humanity whether it’s the slow march towards a technological dystopia or the all-out annihilation of our species.”
As for the song, Davidson remarked, “I’m a massive sci-fi horror fan and love the body horror genre that David Cronenberg helped to create so this is my homage to that. Also, shout out to Rick and Morty for inspiring the song title.”
“Cronenberged” follows previous single “Confines of Infinity,” which was named our Heavy Song of the Week back in February.
