Reservoir signs Grammy-nominated writer-producer Nick Lee, co-producer of Lil Nas X and Jack Harlow’s hit, “INDUSTRY BABY.”
A Los Angeles native, the composer, writer, producer, and trombonist Nick Lee is best known for his success in co-producing Lil Nas X and Jack Harlow’s “INDUSTRY BABY” — he created the song’s iconic horn melody. The Julliard-trained artist has collaborated with many big names, including Megan Thee Stallion, Dillon Francis, Mustard, Seventeen, Stray Kids, CL, and JJ Lin. Independent music company Reservoir Media has announced a deal with Lee for his future works.
“INDUSTRY BABY” reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and Top 40 Radio and received a nomination for Best Melodic Rap Performance at the 2022 Grammy Awards. It was also nominated for Song of the Summer at the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards. That huge success has propelled Nick Lee to the forefront as a writer and producer.
In addition to his songwriting and producing work, Lee has also scored TV and film, composing for network television shows like NBC’s Grand Crew and Fox’s Welcome to Flatch. He will also co-compose Netflix’s upcoming drama series, The Brothers Sun.
“Nick’s classical and jazz background gives him a really deep understanding of music and a creative instinct that he brings to every song he works on,” says James Cheney, Reservoir’s VP of Creative. “We know his keen talent is going to take him far, and we’re honored to support him along the way.”
“I’m so grateful and excited to be partnering with Reservoir,” says Lee. “James and Donna (Caseine, Reservoir’s EVP and Global Creative Director) are both amazing people and creatives, and I’m so glad to have them in my corner. The whole Reservoir team is extremely supportive with the best ethos, and I’m looking forward to what the future brings us!”
