‘Take It From Me’ is the latest single from the upcoming album I Heard That Noise, set for release on April 18, 2025, via Ghostly International. The track offers a deeply personal reflection, showcasing Graham Jonson’s ability to blend intricate production with raw emotion.
Built on earthy piano chords and glitchy drum machine textures, ‘Take It From Me’ emerges from a dreamy melody that lingered in Jonson’s mind before he finally recorded it. Initially, the track didn’t stand out, leading him to set it aside for months. Upon revisiting, he restructured the song to fit within the sonic universe of the new album. The song explores themes of heartbreak and self-examination, moving between two distinct narratives—one recounting a failed relationship, the other turning inward toward personal reflection.
On ‘Take It From Me’ Jonson shares:
“This was one of those melodies that I just had in my head for a while before I recorded it. When I finally did put it down it was cool but didn’t stand out enough so I let it sit for a few months. When I came back to it, I completely restructured the song to fit more in the universe of the others on the album. There are two separate stories on this song – the first verse is a lived experience of a broken relationship, and the second a more inward look upon myself. Both end in the resignation of ‘take it from me’ as a blind plea for some kind of change.”
I Heard That Noise follows Jonson’s 2021 debut The Long and Short of It and 2023’s Easy Listening EP. While originally envisioning a folk record, he instead created an ambitious, genre-blurring album that promises lush instrumentation and unexpected sonic twists.
‘Take It From Me’ is out now.
