Pusha T Disses Travis Scott on New Clipse Song “So Be It”

Pusha T Disses Travis Scott on New Clipse Song "So Be It"

It’s looking like another surgical summer, as Pusha T has dissed Travis Scott on Clipse’s new song “So Be It.” The track is the latest preview of Clipse’s upcoming reunion album, Let God Sort Em Out. Stream it below.

“So Be It” is anchored by a sinister, Middle Eastern-inspired string sample and features Pusha T and Malice’s signature tales of drug dealing and exclusive wealth — until the final verse, when Push takes aim at his former GOOD Music labelmate, Travis Scott.

“You cried in front of me, you died in front of me,” Push raps. “Calabasas took your bitch and your pride in front of me/ Heard Utopia had moved right up the street/ And her lip gloss was poppin’, she ain’t need you to eat.”

While Pusha T doesn’t call out Travis by name, mentioning Utopia and an ex-girlfriend whose “lip gloss was poppin’” are thinly veiled references to Scott’s most recent album and Kylie Jenner, the mother of his two children and a cosmetics mogul.

In an interview with GQ, Pusha T broke down his issues with Travis, which stem from Scott’s 2023 song “Meltdown” featuring Push’s rival Drake. On the track, Drake raps that he would “melt down the chains that I bought from your boss,” a reference to jewelry that Drake bought from Pharrell Williams.

“The true context of that is we were in Paris, literally working, and [Travis] was calling to play P[harrell] his new album,” Push told GQ. “He sees me and [Malice] there. He’s like, ‘Oh, man, everybody’s here,’ he’s smiling, laughing, jumping around, doing his fucking monkey dance. We weren’t into the music, but he wanted to play it, wanted to film [us and Pharrell listening to it]. And then a week later you hear ‘Meltdown,’ which he didn’t play. He played the song, but not [Drake’s verse].”

What truly irks Pusha T, however, is what he describes as Travis’ tendency to “jump around whatever he feels is hot or cling onto whatever he feels is hot,” citing Scott’s fairweather support of his former mentor Kanye West and Drake himself.

“So, that’s where my issue comes in — like, dawg, don’t even come over here with that, because at the end of the day, I don’t play how y’all play,” Push said. “To me, that really was just like… he’s a whore. He’s a whore.”

Pusha T added, “It’s the principle of what I’m saying. That filthy quality that they have about themselves, that lack of loyalty. Travis really has that… Dog, I ain’t with that. This shit ain’t coming out of nowhere.”

Let God Sort Em Out, the first Clipse album in 15 years, arrives on July 11th. It features lead single “Ace Trumpets,” which Consequence named one of the top 25 songs of the year so far. Pre-orders are ongoing.
