Montreal singer-songwriter Pompey exclusively premieres the music video for his gentle, folk-tinged single ‘Really Really Really Big Sweater’ today, coinciding with the announcement of his upcoming album I’m Scared, set for release on September 5.
‘Really Really Really Big Sweater’ is a soft, introspective track exploring the search for comfort amid major life changes. Written in the aftermath of the pandemic, the song reflects Pompey’s struggle to balance the solace found in solitude with the challenge of reconnecting with the world.
“‘Really Really Really Big Sweater’ is about looking for comfort in familiarity at a time when everything is changing. I had finally figured out how to be happy at home alone which is something I learned out of necessity in the pandemic and then what felt like all of the sudden, I had to figure out how to be a person in the world again. I was forced to weigh the comfort of solitude against the comfort of togetherness and find a sustainable balance between the two.”
I’m Scared features Cedric Noel, Thanya Iyer, Emilie Kahn, and more. Co-produced by Pompey and Iyer, the album explores themes of fear, anxiety, comfort, and togetherness, reflecting the artist’s journey through isolation and connection.
This exclusive premiere of ‘Really Really Really Big Sweater’ offers a heartfelt glimpse into Pompey’s evolving sound and emotional depth. The video is out now, with I’m Scared arriving September 5.
