Peloton and Clubhouse become the latest platforms to take action against Kanye West for anti-semitic remarks. Here’s the latest.
Kanye West was suspended from Clubhouse following remarks made during a private event on Saturday. Ye and Wack100 were hosting a Q&A session on the platform, with a $20 entry fee. The session went for about 50 minutes before it was ended, and Kanye West was suspended.
“We took action to shut down a conversation yesterday because it violated our policies,” a Clubhouse spokesperson told TheWrap when asked for comment. “We also suspended those who violated the policies. There’s absolutely no place for bullying, hate speech, or abuse on our platform as explicitly stated in our Community Guidelines and Terms of Service.”
The conversation started with a discussion about the ending of Adidas’ partnership with the rapper. Then it quickly devolved into an anti-semitic rant against Endeavor CEO Ari Emmanuel. Clubhouse isn’t the only platform taking action against the rapper, either.
PeloBuddy reports that another spate of Kanye West songs were removed last week from the Peloton platform.
On December 6, 7, and 9, the Peloton platform purged over 1,500 classes from their on-demand library available to subscribers. In October 2022, the platform announced they would no longer feature Kanye West’s music in new classes. Now his music is being purged from older classes. Peloton made no announcement about the removal of these classes.
The most impacted classes on the platform include Peloton’s cycling and tread classes. Instructors Alex Toussaint saw about 15.6% of his cycling library removed, while Ben Alldis saw 11% of his cycling library disappear. Every single cycle instructor with the exception of Charlotte Weidenbach and Christine D’Ercole had at least one class removed in the Kanye West music purge.
