The PEACE Through Music Diplomacy Act has passed through the House and the Senate.
The Act will use music and music-related global exchange programs as a tool to build cross-cultural understanding and advance peace abroad. The bill was introduced in the House by Rep. Michael McCaul and former Rep. Ted Deutch in January 2022.

Now that the bill has passed both the House and the Senate, it will head to President Biden’s desk for his signature.

The PEACE Through Music Diplomacy Act directs the Department of State (DOS) to leverage partnerships with the private sector when designing and implementing the music-related exchange programs run by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA). It also specifically authorizes music-related exchange programs that advance peace abroad, and it encourages the DOS to integrate a focus on conflict resolution into all relevant exchange programs for young musicians.
