NYC dreamgaze outfit Panik Flower has released their latest single, ‘Alkaline,’ offering a haunting and dynamic introduction to their upcoming EP, Rearview, set to arrive on April 30, 2025.
‘Alkaline’ begins with a meticulously crafted wall of sound, its fuzzy warmth and intensity inviting listeners into an immersive sonic landscape. This lush opening transitions into pared-back, sparse instrumentation, creating a push-pull dynamic that threads through the entire song. The emotional pull is further heightened by the driving, anthemic chorus, where yearning seeps into both the instrumentals and lyrics.
Vocalist Sage Leopold explains:
“We spent a lot of time perfecting the wall of sound at the beginning of this track – we wanted to capture a certain intensity with this part while also having it be fuzzy and warm.”
Guitarist and vocalist Mila Stieglitz-Courtney reflects on the song’s origins, sharing:
“Jordan brought this to us a long time ago, and I remember being incredibly persistent about having to flesh it out.”
With ‘Alkaline,’ Panik Flower delivers a mesmerizing blend of sonic depth and emotional resonance, setting the stage for an EP that is sure to resonate with fans of dreamgaze and beyond. The single is out now, and the band will celebrate with a release party on January 17 at T.J. Byrnes in New York, ahead of their performance at New Colossus Fest in March.
