Motörhead Celebrate 50th Anniversary with Vinyl LPs and More

Motörhead are rolling out a massive 50th anniversary celebration in 2025, starting with a batch of vinyl reissues of their seminal albums.

Special half-speed mastered vinyl repressings of Overkill, Bomber, and Ace of Spades are due out February 28th. These limited editions each come on striking colored wax with an exclusive poster.

The remainder of the 50th anniversary campaign will take place throughout 2025 and includes events honoring the late Lemmy Kilmister, as well as other content celebrating Motörhead’s enduring legacy — such as a just-released HD clip of the band performing its classic cover of “Louie, Louie” on BBC’s Top of the Pops in 1978.

“It’s incredible to know that our music, and all it stands for, continues to resonate with so many people,” said guitarist Phil Campbell in a press release. “Of course we’re enormously grateful to still be appreciated like we are, and truthfully, the music remains as vital and important as ever because there’s a unique energy and honesty to it that we will all always need.”

Added drummer Mikkey Dee: “It’s a remarkable story, the connection we have with our fans can only be described as family and it’s so exciting to see the family still growing. But it also makes sense, because people know who we are and what the music is about. Motörhead has always stood for doing it OUR way, it’s timeless, and continues to inspire people to take that path.”

Later this year, on May 8th (“The Eighth of May”) — International Motörhead Day — a special ceremony will take place for the unveiling of a Lemmy statue in his birthplace of Stoke-on-Trent. Campbell will be in attendance to lead the festivities and place Lemmy’s ashes at the statue.

“This new statue of Lem is special,” said British sculptor Andy Edwards, “not just because I share the same birthplace as him or because of how much he personally means to me, but because it’s so important to have a permanent international landmark celebrating him where he was born. Lemmy gave me joy, confidence in myself, and energy, and he’s also an avatar of the original spirit and power of rock ‘n roll. I really hope it will become a meeting place for people from all over the world to take the journey to.”
