Momma unveils lush and reflective new single ‘Bottle Blonde’

Momma has shared their latest single, ‘Bottle Blonde,’ offering another glimpse into their upcoming album Welcome to My Blue Sky, set for release on April 4 via Polyvinyl Record Co. and Lucky Number.
Premiered through PAPER Magazine, ‘Bottle Blonde’ is an intimate and nostalgic track that blends moody breakbeats with lush arrangements. The song serves as a love letter to the deep friendship between lead vocalists, guitarists, and songwriters Etta Friedman and Allegra Weingarten. The accompanying music video, directed by the band, collages behind-the-scenes tour footage, further emphasizing the personal nature of the track. Written as a reflection on their experiences during a grueling tour, the song captures a moment of self-discovery and change, resonating with themes of growth and resilience.
Friedman (they/them) and Weingarten (she/her) explain:
“We wrote this song as a letter to our past selves, when we were 23 and 24, stumbling through an extremely grueling tour that ended up taking a huge toll on our hearts and minds. We both had bleached hair and were in the midst of making huge decisions that would change our lives and also our perceptions of ourselves. The song started out as kind of an affirmation to our younger selves, that everything would be ok if you just follow your heart, but now looking back on it the lyrics could also be read as us talking to each other.”
With Welcome to My Blue Sky on the horizon and their biggest headlining tour to date set to kick off this spring, Momma continues to evolve both sonically and emotionally. ‘Bottle Blonde’ stands as a poignant and beautifully crafted track that highlights the band’s ability to weave personal storytelling into a compelling musical experience.
