Ignacia Fernández, who is currently vying for Miss World Chile, recently brought a unique energy to the pageant by roaring her way through one of her death metal band’s songs. Watch the performance below.
During the semi-finals of the competition, televised on Sunday, November 2nd, the 27-year-old model and singer performed a track with her band, Decessus. Accompanied by the band’s guitarist Carlos Palma, her guttural vocals were a stark contrast to her black gown.
Representing Chile’s Las Condes district, Fernández’s growls impressed judges enough to earn a spot in the Top 20. She will appear in the finals, airing this Sunday, November 9th.

“Metal has been a fundamental part of who I am as a person and in my life: a refuge, a source of strength and purpose,” Fernández wrote on Instagram. “Being able to express it on stage at Chilevision and Miss Mundo Chile was an opportunity I deeply value. It was a great experience to break down barriers on open television, inspire, be real with it, and show that you don’t have to fear the prejudices of others.”
Fernández began modeling in 2013 and co-founded Decessus in 2020. Also featuring drummer Martín Fénix and bassist Jaime Pepe, the band has opened for international acts such as Insomnium and Jinjer.
In an interview (via Blabbermouth), Fernández added, “I’m not trying to fit in. I’m trying to show myself as I am.” By shocking judges (and the world) with her performance, Fernández has done exactly that.
Decessus released their most recent song, “Dark Flames,” in September. Check out the track below.
