Millions are pouring in to support victims of the LA wildfires, from Beyoncé’s BeyGOOD, WMG/Blavatnik Family Foundation, MusiCares, and NAMM.
Beyoncé is showing her support for those impacted by the ongoing Los Angeles wildfires through her charity, BeyGOOD. The BeyGOOD foundation announced Sunday that it would be donating $2.5 million to help bring relief to families affected by the fires. The donation will go to BeyGOOD’s LA Fire Relief Fund, which the charity started during the tragedy.
“Los Angeles, we stand with you,” reads a post on the foundation’s Instagram page. “The fund is earmarked to aid families in the Altadena/Pasadena area who lost their homes, and to churches and community centers to address the immediate needs of those affected by the wildfires.”
Meanwhile, the Warner Music Group/Blavatnik Family Foundation Social Justice Fund has announced an initial $1 million commitment to the Los Angeles fire relief and rebuilding efforts. This donation will aid vital organizations supporting the LA community and local first responders. It will also help those in the music industry affected by the disaster. The fund will contribute to the California Community Foundation, the LAFD Foundation, Project HOPE, and MusiCares, among others.
“The destruction and loss of life brought by these wildfires are unimaginable,” said Len Blavatnik, head of the Blavatnik Family Foundation. “By supporting these organizations, we’re helping to direct funds to those most in need.”
Robert Kyncl, CEO of Warner Music Group, added, “We’re joining the relief efforts to help the community in LA, while aiding the firefighters in their brave battle. Los Angeles is home to so much determination, resourcefulness, and creativity, and its powerful story is inextricably interwoven with ours. We’re determined to support the people of this extraordinary city.”
MusiCares, the Recording Academy’s foundation, has already distributed over $2 million in aid, according to CEO Harvey Mason Jr. Donations have already greatly surpassed their initial $1 million commitment.
The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) has also established a wildfire relief fund, seeding it with $50,000 in contributions and seeking more donations.
UPDATE: Metallica’s foundation, All Within My Hands, is granting $500,000 to relief efforts carried out by the California Community Foundation (CCF) Wildfire Recovery Fund and the Pasadena Community Foundation’s Eaton Canyon Fire Relief and Recovery Fund.
The CCF has a long history of ensuring resources reach those most in need. It leverages partnerships with community-based organizations and government agencies while using data from CAL FIRE and the CDC’s Social Vulnerability Index to prioritize underserved communities.
For the LA County wildfires, CCF has activated its Wildfire Recovery Fund to complement immediate relief and address the long-term recovery needs of neighborhoods in the area. The fund’s disaster and recovery efforts support an array of critical recovery services such as housing, mental health, and medical care for displaced residents.
Additionally, it aids in rebuilding essential infrastructure like emergency communication systems and offers financial disaster assistance and more. The CCF is receiving $250,000 toward its Wildfire Recovery Fund from All Within My Hands.
The Pasadena Community Foundation (PCF) has established the Eaton Canyon Fire Relief and Recovery Fund. A smaller agency, PCF is entrenched within the community, poised to leverage connections with civic and nonprofit leaders to ensure its aid reaches those who need it most.
The fund will support immediate needs during relief efforts as the fires continue. It will also support critical long-term recovery efforts after the fires are extinguished, and the community embarks on rebuilding. The PCF is receiving $250,000 toward its Eaton County Fire Relief and Recovery fund from All Wiithin My Hands.
