Coldplay’s headlining performance at Glastonbury on Saturday night featured a number of special guests, but one individual’s presence was particularly significant: Michael J. Fox.
The film and television icon, who has battled Parkinson’s disease since 1991, joined the band midway through their performance of “Humankind.” After serenading Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis, frontman Chris Martin turned his attention to “another legendary Michael.” Martin continued his sing-songy introduction by describing Fox as the “one who just totally rocks, with his chuck Berry quiff and the way he punched Biff… Ladies and gentleman, please welcome Michael J.Fox!”
Fox took the stage in a wheelchair and played guitar along with the rest of Coldplay. He then stuck around for “Fix You.”
Coldplay’s Glastonbury set also featured guest appearances from Little Simz, Femi Kuti, Laura Mvula, and a video project of the members of BTS.
