Megan Thee Stallion is back with a new single called “Cobra.” Check it out below.
Megan’s released a couple of songs since last year’s Traumazine — namely, her second Cardi B collab “Bongos” and the Dicks: The Musical soundtrack song “Out Alpha the Alpha” — but “Cobra” marks her first standalone solo release since the 2022 LP.
“Cobra” also marks the first release from Megan on her own music and entertainment entity, Hot Girl Productions, following the settlement of her years-long legal battle with her former label, 1501 Certified Entertainment. In light of that — and some of her other publicized traumas — the theme of the single feels appropriate.
“Cobras exemplify courage and self-reliance,” Megan explained in an Instagram post. “They stand tall and fierce in the face of challenges, teaching one to tap into their inner strength and rely on oneself to conquer their threats. Emulating the cobra helps one be more confident in the person they are within”
The lyrics to “Cobra” allude to this message. Though Megan confesses she’s “very depressed,” she still asserts her self-worth. The music video for the single even begins with a spoken word intro, stating: “Just as a snake sheds its skin, we must shed our past over and over again.” Watch the video below.
In addition to A24’s new musical comedy, the rapper has stepped outside the music world in recent months with a guest appearance on Season 7 of Big Mouth, streaming now on Netflix.
