New Orleans indie rock band Lawn have shared their latest single, ‘Davie,’ offering a nostalgic look back at their early days while previewing their upcoming fourth album God Made the Highway, set for release on September 19 via Exploding In Sound.
Penned by co-lead singer and guitarist Mac Folger, ‘Davie’ reflects on the band’s beginnings in a crumbling Hollygrove house in New Orleans—where they launched Lawn, recorded early EPs, and built the foundation of their community. The song’s crystalline production and laid-back delivery exemplify the effortless chemistry that defines Lawn, even as time and distance have shifted the way they write and record.
“Davie is the name of our landlord back in 2016-2017, after college. The song is about that time in our lives. The house was in Hollygrove, New Orleans. It was big and beautiful and falling apart… In retrospect, it’s hard to say if they were the worst or the best times, but they were very meaningful.”
Lawn will hit the road this fall in support of God Made the Highway, with select dates alongside Momma beginning September 13 in Atlanta and running through October, including stops in Nashville, Chicago, and New York.
