late night drive home has shared ‘she came for a sweet time,’ the second single off their upcoming debut album, I watch my life online, out June 27 via Epitaph.
Opening with a jolt of guitar feedback, ‘she came for a sweet time’ dives headfirst into the dopamine-drenched world of hookup culture and online personas. The track, sonically restless and lyrically self-aware, reflects the tension of constantly searching for validation in the digital age. Through jagged rhythms and glitchy textures, the El Paso-based band critiques the compulsive loop of swipe culture and its fleeting sense of connection.
The band’s guitarist Juan “Ockz” Vargas states:
“The song speaks about online hookup and meet-up culture — the instant gratification cultivated by TikTok and Reels. Online dating apps work the same way; you’re able to swipe between hundreds of individuals in the span of five minutes, turning love into content.”
‘she came for a sweet time’ follows January’s ‘terabyte‘ and offers another compelling preview of as I watch my life online, a 13-track album that explores the blurred line between digital life and emotional truth. It marks the band’s first studio-recorded LP and signals a sonic shift from their bedroom roots to a more expansive, electronic-inflected indie rock.
