Vidar Landa, famed guitarist of Norwegian metal band Kvelertak, makes an impressive transformation with his introspective indie project, King Hüsky. His latest single, ‘Lately I’ve Been Thinking Of Your Mother,’ is out now via Hype City Music and offers a captivating glimpse into his forthcoming debut album, set for release on May 9, 2025.
Built on three alternating chords, the single carries a playful yet introspective energy. Its simplicity creates space for an understated groove, inviting listeners to let loose and take to the dancefloor. The track’s glacial rhythm and infectious warmth mark a stark departure from Landa’s metal roots, underscoring his versatility as a songwriter.
Landa says of the track:
“This song was written in a stream of consciousness-like mode. A guitar-driven alternative pop answer to the classic cookbook From Buns to Burritos. I had been thinking about a recipe in it for a while, so I picked up the guitar and set out to make it real. This is what came out. The whole song is purposely simple, made of only three, alternating chords. I wanted the sound to be something people could dance to so, instead of strumming the acoustic guitar constantly, we recorded the song to leave some space for the dancefloor.”
With ‘Lately I’ve Been Thinking Of Your Mother,’ King Hüsky has set the tone for what promises to be a remarkable debut album. Fans of thoughtful, danceable indie-pop should keep an eye on Vidar Landa as he ventures into this exciting new chapter of his career.
