Mark McGrath himself has confirmed Kid Rock’s long-held claim that he got “more ass than Mark McGrath.” The assertion was made on the title track of Kid Rock’s 2001 album Cocky, and 20-plus years later, the Sugar Ray singer attests that it’s “absolutely” true.
In the lyrics to the song, Kid Rock declared, “Got more money than Matchbox Twenty/ Get more ass than Mark McGrath.” On Monday (January 29th), the music outlet Rock Feed posed the question, “Did Kid Rock actually ‘get more ass than Mark McGrath’?” on X (see below), to which a gentleman by the name of Finn McKentry added, “We need @mark_mcgrath to settle the debate.”
Not too long after, the Sugar Ray frontman chimed in, “I’m going to have to confirm that he absolutely did, and extra points for rhyming ass with McGrath…hope that clears up any confusion.”
Back in 2018, McGrath appeared on The Woody Show (watch below) and was asked to spill some tea about Kid Rock. While he mostly had kind things to say about the American Bad Ass, he did say that their friendship has “never been the same” since a false rumor floated around that McGrath dated Kid Rock’s ex-wife Pamela Anderson.
Four years earlier, in 2014, McGrath told Country 92.5, “I have so many stories about Kid Rock. We just did the Kid Rock Cruise a couple months ago, and he had us on there. I’m like, ‘Oh, it’s been a few years. I’m sure he’s calmed down in the partying and blah blah blah. I go up to his suite, and there’s five strippers falling out of the door. He’s in there serenading everybody with his guitar. I go, ‘Bob, I love you, man. You’ll never change.’”
Anyway, kudos to Mr. McGrath for his admirable honesty in confirming Kid Rock’s “Cocky” claim. Maybe one day they’ll have a good laugh about it over a couple cans of Bud Light.
Now, we just have to hear from Matchbox Twenty to see if they indeed have less money than Kid Rock.
I’m going to have to confirm that he absolutely did, and extra points for rhyming ass with McGrath…hope that clears up any confusion.
