Kesha Throws Shade at Katy Perry with Wendy's Cup

Kesha has seemingly thrown some shade towards Dr. Luke collaborator Katy Perry in a new social media post.

On Monday, April 14th, Perry joined Gayle King, Lauren Sanchez, and three other women aboard Blue Origin’s NS-31 spacecraft for a brief, 11-minute journey to space. Upon their return to Earth, Pop Crave shared an update, featuring a photo of Perry in her space suit with the caption: “Katy Perry has returned from space.” The official Twitter account for fast food chain Wendy’s quickly chimed in with a cheeky response: “Can we send her back” — a comment that quickly went viral.

Not long after Wendy’s tweet comment, Kesha posted a photo on Twitter with no caption, but of herself with a Wendy’s cup, smiling at the camera. Coincidence? Very likely not. Kesha and Perry have had a strained relationship for quite a while, as Kesha was notably entangled in a years-long lawsuit with producer Dr. Luke, alleging abuse and harassment; Meanwhile, Perry has continued to work with Dr. Luke, enlisting him behind the boards for every track on her 2024 album 143 and defending him publicly.

All the way back in 2016, when Kesha first launched her suit against Dr. Luke, she texted Lady Gaga, expressing frustration that Perry wouldn’t speak out against Dr. Luke. She suggested that Perry “could bring the whole thing to a head” but “won’t.” Gaga responded, acknowledging that Perry “makes me angry about s— [but] I just try to have empathy for her.” In a 2017 deposition, Perry denied allegations that she herself had been assaulted by Dr. Luke and expressed annoyance at being involved in the dispute, stating she felt “annoyed at both Luke and Kesha.”

Still, Perry continued to work with LukeWhen asked about her involvement with him, Perry deflected, saying, “I am speaking from my own experience. The truth is, I wrote these songs from my experience of my whole life going through this metamorphosis, and he was one of the people to help facilitate all that.”

Kesha isn’t the only celebrity to take a dig at Perry over her involvement in the Blue Origin space flight. In a post to her Instagram stories, actress Olivia Wilde shared a meme of Perry kissing the ground after returning to Earth and wrote, “Billion dollar bought some good memes I guess.” Meanwhile, actress Olivia Munn called the whole expedition “gluttonous.”
