Kenny Chesney becomes the first country artist to play the Las Vegas Sphere, with a 12-show residency that kicks off in May.

Country star Kenny Chesney has announced a residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas for 12 shows starting Memorial Day weekend in May. Fans have speculated such an announcement was in the works since the venue’s social media accounts shared a video teasing a beach’s shoreline with waves washing up to a blue chair, guitar, and cowboy hat.

Now, the singer has confirmed he’s taking his “Old Blue Chair” to Las Vegas. “When we started talking about all of the possibilities playing Sphere offered, I was all in,” Chesney told People. “Just the idea of 4D technology and the impossibly dialed in sound raises the experience for No Shoes Nation, literally immersing them in music, visuals, sound, and being together.”

Kenny Chesney is known for harboring a close relationship with his fans, which he affectionately calls No Shoes Nation. “Over the years, they have shown me through their own response to these songs how passionate they are about what they mean, how these songs are part of their lives. When people give you that much heart, I want to give them even more.”

Chesney says he was “completely consumed” by the technology on display at the venue when he watched the film of U2’s residency there. U2 christened the 18,600-seat venue with their 40-show residency, which kicked off in September, 2023. Since then, the Sphere has hosted Dead & Company, Phish, and the Eagles.

Tickets for Chesney’s Sphere residency go on sale starting Friday, January 31, at 10 AM PT on the star’s website. Fans can also get early access to tickets ahead of the general on-sale through VIP packages on sale now.
