Kendrick Lamar breaks Drake’s record to become the rapper with the most monthly listeners in Spotify history, surpassing 88.8 million.
Less than 48 hours after his record-breaking Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show performance, Kendrick Lamar shatters even more records, becoming the rapper with the highest monthly listeners in Spotify history. That’s another slap in the face to his bitter rival, Drake, the rapper who held the record previously with 75.4 million.
He still has a long way to go among all artists, however. Thanks to new music with Lady Gaga (the female artist with the most listeners at present), Bruno Mars currently leads the charge with a whopping 151 million monthly listeners, followed by The Weeknd with 124.5 million.
K.Dot has also secured the top five on Spotify’s US Top 50. “Not Like Us,” “luther (with SZA),” “tv off,” “All the Stars (with SZA),” and “squabble up” make up the top five, while another SZA duet, “30 for 30,” held the sixth spot yesterday — since ousted by Doechii’s “Denial is a River.”
On Monday, Lamar was the No. 1 most-streamed artist, both in the United States and globally, while SZA ranked No. 2 in the US and No. 4 globally. He has 28 songs on Spotify’s daily top 200 songs chart, many of which re-entered the charge following his Super Bowl performance. These include “HUMBLE,” “Money Trees,” “Alright,” and another diss track that also made an appearance at the halftime show, “euphoria.”
Meanwhile, Apple Music reports Lamar also dominates their songs chart, with “Not Like Us” reigning supreme both in the US and globally. His albums GNX and DAMN rank No. 1 and No. 2 on iTunes.
Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl performance came two months after the surprise release of his latest album, GNX. He has also announced new dates for his upcoming tour with SZA just after the halftime show.
